TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Subject: Reference letter for Ms. Anyck Turgeon
I wish to declare my complete support of Ms. Turgeon’s professional career, track record and performance.
By way of background, I am an executive at Oracle USA, a company I joined in 1990. Oracle is the world’s largest enterprise software company with revenues totally more than $15 billion and 75,000+ employees. I have had the opportunity to meet with countless high-tech professionals throughout my 25+ year career. While a technologist at heart, I have also had broad general management experience in business development, product management, investments, and corporate development. It was during my tenure as Managing Director of Oracle’s $500MM Venture fund that I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Turgeon in 2000.
Then, I recognized her unique approach to marketing and positioning technology and became aware of her extraordinary potential. Although not her function, I would often use her in my investment due diligence process to obtain her valuable perspective on potential investments. As our fund had a fairly broad focus, I was impressed by how she was able to add value to our evaluation of many, yet vastly different, breakthrough technologies.
As we started making investments in the security field, I realized Ms Turgeon’s ability to review that segment of the market was second to none. Specifically, she was instrumental in helping Oracle invest in SAV technologies (A RFID Company). Post investment, she was also instrumental in framing Oracle’s support for SAVI’s request to the FCC. I don’t believe we would have invested in SAVI without her insight. SAVI was later acquired by Lockheed which resulted in solid gains for Oracle. Ms Turgeon provided similar insights on other successful, albeit not-publicized, investments.
While working for Oracle, I know that Ms. Turgeon managed key initiatives in Oracle’s high growth initiatives: OraclePortal/Oracle9iAS, Oracle Industries and Oracle Outsourcing/On-Demand. Her role was significant. She demonstrated measurable and significant contributions such as (1) creating global go-to market strategies, (2) creation of a vertical-based portfolio covering 14 industries (3) Launching Oracle Software as a Service (SaaS) initiatives. Similar to her assistance with our Venture Fund activities, all three emerging areas for which she was contributing in 2000 have now become large, successful, and strategic lines of business for Oracle.
After leaving Oracle, Ms Turgeon and I have remained friends. As such, I am aware of her career expansion and how she has become a lead expert in the information security field. Her recent recognition through the 2008 Shaping Info Security Award from a well regarded Silicon Valley publication is evidence that the industry has labeled her as one of the very few people in the world with unique security expertise. Her contributions in the areas of advanced data management and information security continue to position her for ongoing international recognition.
Given Ms. Turgeon’s dedication to her work, her ongoing high-performance, and established reputation in the industry, I would like to reiterate my full support behind her as an individual with exceptional capabilities and would recommend her to any firm seeking to recruit a top industry performer.
Ms. Turgeon’s skills are leading her to be within a very small percentage of highly-performing individuals. I am confident that she will continue to gain top industry awards and international recognition as a result of her outstanding contributions for many years to come.
Yours truly,
Laurent Sandrolini
